Summer Camps

MRCA SUMMER CAMPS

Banish boredom with MRCA Summer Camps! We welcome current MRCA students as well as children outside our community! To register, fill out an MRCA Summer Camp Registration Form for each child coming to camp. This year, we are accepting payments through FACTS (for MRCA families) or with a check. Please pay by June 1.

Baking and Cooking Camp

May 26-29 – 4th-8th grade completed

Instructors: Sarah Pennell, MRCA Art Teacher, and Paula Hermann, MRCA Music and Band Teacher

Baking Camp, led by Mrs. Hermann and Mrs. Pennell, will teach campers how to make cakes, cupcakes, cheesecake, brownies, cookies, and more from scratch. You will also be able to learn how to make icing and use it to decorate your baked treats! This camp will also include instruction on the basics of measuring ingredients, learning how to make large batch recipes, and how each ingredient interacts with each other to make the desserts so delicious! Each person who attends Baking camp will leave each day with sweet treats for a family of four. This is a half-day camp from 9am – 12pm.

Cooking Camp, led by Mrs. Pennell and Mrs. Hermann, will teach campers how to make lasagna, casseroles, breakfast for dinner, soups, and more from scratch. This camp will include instruction on measuring, boiling pasta, using food in layers, frying, baking, cleaning, and many more important skills in the kitchen! Each person who attends baking camp will leave each day with dinner for a family of four.

Baking and Cooking Camp (full day) – We encourage you to attend full-day camp from 9am – 3pm to learn how to bake and cook for your family, as well as enjoy dinner and dessert each day! If you attend a full day, please bring a lunch to enjoy with your friends between the two sections.

Art and Clay Camp

June 1-5 – 1st-8th grade completed

Instructors: Sarah Pennell, MRCA Art Teacher

During Art Camp, led by Mrs. Pennell, you will design and created new art pieces each day.  Students will use new tools and techniques to advance their art skills.  At the end of the week students will have completed five different art pieces to take home.  This camp will be held in the MRCA Art Studio from 9am-12pm.

During Clay Camp, led by Mrs. Pennell, you will learn new and inventive ways to sculpt with clay.  Each day students will learn new techniques and apply them to their ceramic pieces. All pieces created this week will be picked up the following week once they have been fired in the kiln.  This camp will be held in the MRCA Art Studio from 12-3pm.

Sports Camp

June 8-12 – K5-6th grade completed

Instructor: Michael O’Leath, MRCA Middle School PE Teacher and Boys Basketball Coach

An activity-filled camp that includes soccer, football, kickball, handball, basketball, hockey, dodgeball, whiffle ball, relays, capture the flag, and playground time. Devotional talks will be a part of each day’s activities. Campers enrolling in the full-day camp will need to bring their lunches each day.

Piñata and STOMP Camp

June 15-19 – 1st-4th grade completed

Instructors: Sarah Pennell, MRCA Art Teacher, and Paula Hermann, MRCA Music and Band Teacher

At Piñata Camp, led by Mrs. Pennell, you will learn how to design and create a custom Piñata, students will construct using recycled materials and seal them using paper mache methods.  Students will leave camp on Friday with a custom piñata of their own and will celebrate with a Fiesta. This camp will be held in the MRCA Art studio from 9am-12pm.

STOMP Camp, led by Mrs. Hermann, will teach campers to use non-traditional instruments to create a percussion piece. We will learn how to use brooms, trash cans, pots and pans, lids, etc., in order to create an interesting and unique musical experience. There will be a performance at the end of the week on Friday at 2:30pm for any parents, friends, or siblings who would like to watch and be entertained! This camp will be held in the MRCA Music/Band room from 12-3pm.

We encourage you to attend both camps from 9:00-3:00 for two different experiences! If you attend a full day, please bring a lunch to enjoy with your friends between the two sections.

Soccer Camp

June 22-26 – 2nd-8th grade completed

Instructor: Mark Martin, MRCA Athletics Director and Boys Soccer Coach

This co-ed camp is designed for the beginner and experienced field players. The focus will be on developing each player individually and collectively within the team game. Agility workouts, combined with skill work, will promote movement on the ball and assist in growing a stronger game mindset. Each day will conclude with small-sided matches. Players will be divided up by skill level as needed in order to help support them in developing to their fullest potential.

Lil’ Eagle Soccer Camp

June 22-26 – K4-1st completed

Instructor: Mark Martin, MRCA Boys Soccer Coach

Here is your chance to introduce your kindergartener to the fun of soccer. Every evening, they will play games that teach the fundamentals of the sport.

Time and Cost: 6 – 7 pm, $50

Co-Ed Volleyball Camp

June 29-July 3 – 4th-8th grade completed

Instructor: David Reimann, MRCA Volleyball Coach

MRCA is excited to host Volleyball Camp again this summer, and we are making it co-ed this year! We are splitting the groups by experience level. Players new to the game are invited to come at 9am – 12pm. Advanced players can choose between a half (12 – 3pm) and a full-day (9am – 3pm) option. The focus will be on developing each player individually and collectively within the team game. Additionally, players will improve their offensive and defensive skills through group drills and small-sided play.

Times and Cost:

  • Beginners’ Half Day – 9am – 12pm, $85
  • Advanced Players’ Half Day – 12 – 3pm, $85
  • Advanced Players’ Full Day – 9am – 3pm, $150

Potters Wheel Workshop

Scheduled by Request – 1st-8th grade completed

Instructor: Sarah Pennell, MRCA Art Teacher

A Potters Wheel Workshop may be scheduled by request for either morning (9am – 12pm) or afternoon (12 – 3pm) sessions. These workshops are for groups of a minimum of two students and can hold a max of three students.  Students will learn the basics of throwing, centering, pulling and glazing their pieces. These workshops would be held in the MRCA Art Studio. If you are interested, fill out the registration form, and we will contact you about possible dates. We will not bill you in FACTS or require payment by check until we finalize the details.
