What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Philippians 4:13 would be my favorite. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” After having battled cancer and continuing to battle other ailments, this verse is a reminder to me to keep my focus on God. He is the one who has brought me through difficult times. As I go forward in life, He continues to be my strength, my peace, my comforter, my healer, and my hope.

Where did you grow up, and where have you lived?
I was born in Waynesville, NC. Most of my time growing up, however, was spent in Travelers Rest, SC. I have also lived in Mars Hill, NC.

What do you love about serving at MRCA?
I love working for and with people who love God because that love and respect also extends to other people employed here. The atmosphere of the workplace is pleasant to be a part of.
I love that I am openly able to share with students about God’s love for them, and help lift them up when they are down. I feel that this is the mission field God has placed me in. He is using me right where I am in life. Even though I have many flaws, God has put me where I can use my gifts for His glory.

I also love that I am a parent of two students here at the school. I get a little window into their world and enjoy the closeness that it brings us.

Besides Jesus, who is the person you would most want to meet?
I would want to meet some of my ancestors that I have discovered while doing my family tree. There are so many questions I would love to ask and so many interesting stories to hear!

What are your hobbies?
Crafting, working on my family’s ancestry, reading

What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
I think the best vacation would be the one I took with my husband for our 15th wedding anniversary to Colorado Springs, CO. It was a wonderful time spent with my best friend! Being someone who loves “my mountains” here at home, I stood in awe of God’s beautiful creation there in Colorado. I would love to take my children there one day.

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
I enjoy being with and doing anything with my family!

Which Bible story has grown your faith the most?
I can’t think of just one Bible story that has grown my faith the most. What I do find fascinating is going back as an adult and reading the Bible stories that I grew up hearing. I can remember the stories from my childhood, but now when I read them I discover so many more details! Those Bible heroes I had as a child are still heroes, but I realize now how many flaws and struggles they had. Yet God chose them, imperfect people…sinners, to do His work. What amazing things God really did in the past and still continues to do today. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
