What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Isaiah 40:28-31 has brought me such comfort through a difficult season of my life. Fast forward about 10 years and when we were trying to decide whether to put my oldest son at MRCA, Isaiah 40:30-31 was the school verse. It gave me confirmation that this was where our son should be, and a year later where I would teach and where my two younger kids should go as well.

Where did you grow up, and where have you lived?
I grew up in the small town of Lexington, NC, famous for its barbeque. I lived there; Boone, NC (for college), and Greenville, SC (after marriage). We spent one year in Atlanta, GA.

What do you love about serving at MRCA?
I love being able to share my faith with my students. I really love serving with them on mission projects.

Besides Jesus, who is the person you would most want to meet?
That’s a tough one, but I would say Corrie ten Boom and her sister Bet.

What are your hobbies?
I like to pleasure read as opposed to “school” read. I enjoy hiking as well.

What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
I would say it was when our kids were young – not too young, just the right age – to Disney. We had a blast! It really is the most magical place on earth!

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
I like to spend it with my husband. Since he often travels during the week, this is our time to reconnect. I especially love it when any of my adult children come home for a visit or when we get the chance to visit any one of them.

Which Bible story has grown your faith the most?
There are many, but the story that stands out is Esther, not so much her words, but Mordecai’s – “And who knows that you have come to a royal position for such a time as this?” This quote reminds us of the different callings God places us in and our responsibility to the call.
